My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey, future family! I'm Tara, the 39-pound queen of zoomies and professional wiggler! I’m basically a four-legged party, and let me tell you, I am baffled—absolutely baffled—as to why I haven’t been scooped up yet. It’s like people just aren’t ready for this level of happiness in their lives. Saved from the grim fate of breed-specific legislation (yeah, I’m a survivor with a backstory, folks!), I’m here, tail wagging and butt wiggling, ready to bring maximum joy to some lucky human.
Listen, I’m super treat-motivated, which means I'm smart AND snack-savvy. You say "sit," I’m on it. "Lie down"? Done. Tell me to "crate up," and BOOM—I’m already there, sitting politely like, "Yes, hello, I’m an angel."
My daily agenda? It’s pretty straightforward: fetch (I’m a pro), zoomies (certified fast and furious), and strolls where I dazzle everyone with my leash skills. Sure, I might put on a little ten-minute concert when I first go in my crate, but who doesn’t love a little dramatic flair? After that, I’m out cold till morning, dreaming of treats and tennis balls.
And I get along with other dogs! Cats? Meh, live and let live, I say. Got kids? Older, considerate ones work best—I'm ready to be your kids' best buddy, just no roughhousing toddlers, please.
So, if you’re ready for endless fun, laughs, and cuddles, let’s make this official. Hit up my people so we can start this lifetime adventure. I’m here, wiggling and waiting!

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
