My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Maggie!  She is a super sweet 7 year old pup who got surrendered to a local vet and stayed in that office for a month before coming into rescue. We have been getting to know her better as she settles down from that experience.  She’s a shepherd mix, maybe shepherd/lab?  She’s got one ear up and one ear down, a tribute to both sides of her family tree perhaps?  Also, she’s a hugger, so if that’s something you love in a dog, Maggie’s your girl!

Maggie loves car rides, walks in the neighborhood, cuddles and TV with her people.  She also adores dogs who are smaller than she is. She has become quite close to her 55lb pittie mix foster sister and is super curious about the cat.  Her manners are improving but she is still learning how to say hello politely to dogs and people.  She loves kids but again, needs work on her manners and is better suited to life with older kids, teenagers and adults. She wants to be part of the group and doesn’t do well in the crate when others are around but sleeps well in it at night or alone during the work day. She is perfectly potty trained and doesn't chew on objects she isn't supposed to.

Maggie is eager to please and will continue to benefit from clear expectations and training. Her reactions to larger dogs are not always the best and she tends to “come on strong.”  We are working with her on this on walks and in the foster home.

Finally, Maggie is a smart girl who has so much love to give to her future family.  She deserves someone who will be committed to giving her the stability and leadership for the rest of her days.

We’ve got some exciting news about this pup’s age! Thanks to DNA testing from Embark, we’ve got a fresh take on how old they really are. A big shoutout to Embark for generously donating these tests for us to explore! You might spot a difference between Embark's findings and our original guess—after all, no test or person is 100% accurate. It’s all part of the adventure!
