I transferred to Safe Haven from another shelter and I can't wait to meet you! I'm an older boy, but that hasn't stopped me at all. I really like meeting new people and dogs, I can get a little over excited and jump up on people. I like kids but I may hurt them because I don't realize how big I am at 79 pounds, so I may be best in a home with older kids. Once an application is approved, we ask potential adopters to come to the shelter to visit the pet or pets they are interested in. If it seems like a great fit, then we would have you fill out the Adoption Contract and provide you with the pet's medical chart, some of the food it is currently eating, and offer any advice we can on that individual cat or dog.

Our shelter is located at 1471, US Highway 20 West, Elizabeth, IL, 61028. Our hours are: Monday - Saturday, 10am to 3pm. We can provide by-appointment-only visits from 3pm to 5:30pm. We are closed on Sundays.

Our Board of Directors, Shelter Staff, and Dedicated Volunteers believe that together we can make a difference in the lives of cats, dogs, and the people who care about them.
