Sniffer's journey is a heartwarming tale of resilience and hope. This lovable 10-year-old first joined the Frosted Faces family in May 2023 when he was surrendered to Coachella Valley Shelter and faced the risk of euthanasia. With his beagle charm, he was whisked away on several two-week Frosted Flings, where we discovered just how special he truly is.
Sniffer proved to be a well-behaved, food-loving, blanket snuggler in a home environment, earning great reviews from his short-term families. Although he found a forever home in September 2023, his life took another unexpected turn, and he was returned to us in May 2024 through no fault of his own.
Now back in our care, Sniffer is once again dreaming of a loving, permanent home. In the meantime, he's enjoying the good life of an on-site Frosted Face - being in play groups with his friends, having fun on outings with volunteers, and going on our weekly Sunday hikes.
Sniffer is known for appreciating his personal space, and his preference is to let you know when he wants to be petted by booping you with his nose. The longer he knows someone, such as our staff and certain volunteers, he does it more and more. Sniffer needs a patient family to give him time to learn what real love feels like.
Sniffer is a great guy to take as your date to public places, as evidenced on a special outing with volunteers and another dog to a local winery. He was perfectly behaved in the car, at the winery, and while mingling with people. His calm demeanor and love for the outdoors, combined with his enthusiasm for snacks, made him an absolute hit!
Sniffer recently returned from a two-week Frosted Fling, and his foster family shared what they learned about him:
"Sniffer sweetly follows you around the house, is very responsive, and gets so excited when you return home. He is sensitive soul with a heartbreaking past and needs a dedicated, patient human to show him love and care. His fear sometimes gets in the way, but he's trying hard to be the best boy.
* He loves head scratches but not his butt, as he gets scared when he can't see your hand.
* Food is his favorite, especially dinner time!
* He enjoys being outdoors and would love a yard where he can sunbathe, roll in the dirt, and take in nature.
* He loves outings to dog-friendly spots like Petco to sniff and people-watch. He's respectful as long as others don't reach out to touch him unexpectedly.
* He is comfortable in a crate and willingly goes in when asked kindly. He responds well to gentle commands.
* He would enjoy having a small playmate, as he loved to roll around with our puppy!
* He prefers leisurely walks, taking his time to sniff and explore.
* He's happy to slip his head into his leash and gets excited to go on walks.
* He likes to lay on his own bed next to you.
* He barks and howls when he needs to go potty.
Sniffer is a sweet boy who deserves a loving home where to spend his golden years. With patience, he will bond deeply with his forever family. He just needs someone willing to take a chance on him."
Sniffer is back on-site and ready for his forever home. If you have a beagle-sized spot in your heart for this special boy, please stop by between 10:00am and 3:00pm to meet him!
