My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Aurora is a sweet little old lady that was surrendered to PRBJ when her owner had health issues and was unable to care for her. She is looking for a nice quiet home to spend the rest of her years relaxing in.  Aurora does have a 2 out of 6 heart murmur and nuclear sclerosis which is the clouding of the eyes.  Miss Aurora recently had a dental and 20 teeth removed so is eating soft food but after her recheck appointment, we will see if we can add kibble back in or not.   These things do come with age and do not slow her down.  This little girl is good with kids 2 years and older however due to her age we are recommending a home without kids.

Aurora likes the car and will make herself comfortable quickly, especially if you put a pillow/bed down for her!    She will do the same in the house.    We put a large dog pillow on the couch and she loves to lay on that and keep our elderly parent company.     She loves to be outside but is not a fan of commercial vehicles such as the mail truck, EMTs, trash truck, school bus, etc. and will make that known.    She sleeps all night in a dog bed or on the couch.

Aurora loves "hunting" outside.    She doesn't catch anything but is fascinated by lizards and even more by grasshoppers.   Due to the heat (and now her surgery) we limit how long she is out at any time.    She does not seem at all like a 14 year old and easily jumps up onto chairs and couches and is happiest on a lap.

Go meet their pets

Although many of our pets are cared for at our facility in Sanford, many others are in private foster homes. To arrange a meet, it is best to first complete an online adoption application so that we can set up a meeting. You can access complete information on our pets plus the adoption application on our website, www.petrescuebyjudy.com. Meets and Adoptions are held at our Sanford Adoption Center. Please visit our facebook page, facebook.com/petrescuebyjudy for a full listing of events where PRBJ is represented.

More about this rescue

We are a private, non-profit rescue located in Sanford, Florida, dedicated to the rescue cats and dogs. Many of them come to us with medical needs. They are doctored to the best of our ability and resources.

Our most urgent goal is to rescue animals that are abandoned or in distress, update their vaccines, and find good new homes for them. But we attempt to be more proactive than that. It is our heartfelt desire to prevent any animal from the need to be "rescued." With that vision in mind, we take a three-prong approach through the education of pet owners and the general public about:
- proper care of animals, including correct diet of good quality food, fresh clean water, daily exercise, and lots of love
- spaying and neutering companion animals (dogs and cats) in order to prevent euthanasia and over-population
- low-cost spay/neuter clinics and wellness centers in their local community
