My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Cheryl was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Is there anything better than coming home to a dog with a wagging tail and a wiggly butt? Cheryl thinks that no, there's not, so she would be more than happy to provide you with this delightful sight on a daily basis as long as she gets lots of love in return! Cheryl is an affectionate girl who enjoys going on walks, playing with respectful dogs who match her play style and letting loose in the yard. This smart girl already knows how to "sit" and "shake" and is ready to learn more tricks! Because Cheryl can be a bit nervous around new people, she would thrive in a patient family with children 8 years and up who must be present for the interaction. Ready to welcome Cheryl into your home? Bring a leash and collar and take her home today!

Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
