Meet Sophia, a sweet 1 year old spayed female cur/hound mix, currently weighing about 40 lbs. She has a beautiful brindle and white coat, with spots on her legs. Sophia and her brother Boxy were sadly abandoned in TN. They can both be a bit shy and take a little while to warm up to new people, but they are very sweet dogs!
Sophia is good with other dogs, cats, people, and kids. She is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained. She is working on leash training.
From Sophia's current foster:
“Sophia - low energy in the house but as soon as she goes out with other dogs, she’s a playful puppy. Loves being with other dogs, her whole demeanor changes! Sleeps like a rock at night - her favorite position for sleeping is on her back. If someone is looking for a companion for their dog, Sophia would be perfect - just enough play and energy for any dog.
When she first arrived, I had to carry her out of her transport and whenever she went outside. Doesn’t like to be rushed but always gets there with gentle prodding. Want a couch potato who will be a great companion for your younger or older dog, Sophia is the one.
Her personality is typical hound, aloof and low key til it’s time to play. No problem with my cat - absolutely no interest.”

Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs. We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted. As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding!
