My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A VERY ACTIVE & FUN FRIEND:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 27 lbs. & needs to gain weight

Hello there!  I’m Cosmo!  I’ve had a home since I was a puppy, but unfortunately my family was moving and could not take me with them.  That makes me sad, but I am thankful that Mostly Mutts was able to welcome me into the MM family.  I am getting great care from the dedicated volunteers who come to care for me and am now ready to find my new home!  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program offsite and learned a lot!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I am reactive towards them.  When I see them from afar on walks, I don’t react – just when I get up close to them.  For this reason, I would like to be your only dog.  / I was reportedly good with cats in my previous home – though I was scared and would run if they were mean to me.  It will likely depend on the kitty, but if you have a dog-friendly kitty at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / My former owner said I was good with kids though I don’t recall their ages and I recently met children at Mostly Mutts and was nice and calm with them away from the shelter environment which tends to get make too excited.  If you have kids ages 10+, let’s meet away from the shelter!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am an active guy and am looking for a family that will provide me with lots of opportunities to have fun with and be active with them.  Sweet and friendly, my trainer said I am of one their favorite dogs, as I am so trainable and manageable.  The volunteers say I’m an ‘awesome dog’ who listens very well.  So, what are you waiting for, come meet me today and fall in love!  / My energy level is 6 – 8+ so let’s have some fun together!

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  I also know how to ‘high five’!  / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, as well as in my previous home. / My potty habits were good on the prison/foster training program schedule.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to play and especially love sticks and balls.  Playing fetch is also super fun!  I am good at doggie puzzles and can self-entertain with a toy. I’d love a nice, fenced yard to run off my energy, but supervise me, as I had the ability to jump a fence in my former home.  I ride well in the car, so I would make a good hiking buddy or a great partner to take to the park.  A volunteer recently took me on a day trip to Kennesaw Mountain and they said I was so excited that I jumped for joy to be there and walked for several miles which I loved!  I was respectful of the dogs and people I saw and did not try to pull towards them.  I also enjoyed the smells and watching the birds!  I’d be happiest with a family member who can be active with me and whose schedule provides chances for us to share lots of adventures together. / I would not be happy if I had to spend too much time alone with little exercise.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.

I am looking for a family to be active with me and provide me with a great, loving home for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
