Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Uma is a fun-loving, energetic young dog who adores snuggling. She loves getting up close for cuddles, especially in bed. Being an active dog, Uma would thrive with regular walks and play sessions, especially with other dogs. She has a great history of doing well with fellow canines and enjoys their company.
However, Uma's lively nature makes her better suited to a home without cats, as she has a tendency to chase them. In her previous home, she also enjoyed chasing chickens, so it's recommended to keep her away from smaller animals.
Due to her high energy, Uma can get excited and may jump or gently mouth, so a home with older children who understand her playful ways would be ideal. She's housebroken and working on learning new cues, plus she's crate trained. Uma prefers her crate to be in a quiet spot, covered with a blanket for a cozy resting place.
She has a soft spot for stuffed toys but be warned-she loves tearing into them! Uma is looking for a home that can match her energy and love for playtime and snuggles. Could that be you?

More about this shelter
The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.
To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.
There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.
We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
