Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET PEPPER!
This sweet, low-key girl is named Pepper! Pepper joined City of Elderly Love after being surrendered to Philly's animal control shelter along with 8 other small dogs. Their owner was no longer equipped to care for so many dogs but fortunately, all of them found placement with rescues; two of which joined ours!
Pepper is somewhere around 12 years old and appears to be a Shih Tzu mix; around 14 lbs. Despite not wanting to play much, Pepper is an A+ snuggler and loves attention. She'll happily nap in your lap if you let her. She is blind but once she knows you're there, she'll ask for pets and give you tiny kisses whenever possible. Pepper loves to go for (slow) walks, is a great eater, loves to explore her foster family's backyard, and to lay in the sun. She'll even do a little dance when she's able to go outside during nice weather! So while she's a low-key gal, she has her own sweet and quirky personality once she's comfortable in her surroundings. She's currently living with other dogs and cats and gets along with them well!
Pepper is blind due to age-related cataracts and lifelong chronic dry eye (KCS) so receives daily over the counter lubricating eye drops. She also doesn't hear well (or at all) but has no problem letting you know what she'd like. Pepper is housebroken and great about letting you know that she needs to go out. Because little dogs have little bladders, she does need to go out every few hours. She's great about using pee pads in her crate or pen while you're at work or if you need to be away from the house for a while. Pepper prefers to sleep in the same room as her people so she knows they're nearby. She has been diagnosed with mild chronic kidney disease, not uncommon for aging dogs which doesn't require further treatment at this time but should be . Overall, this sweet, easy going girl would be great for any family looking to spoil a special little senior dog in her sunset years. She'll happily repay you with cheek kisses!
Pepper is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Interested in adopting her? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!
