My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Denver is a 6-year-old hound mix with a big heart, a curious spirit, and a love for adventure. Whether he's exploring the house, sniffing his way through nature walks, or curling up in his favorite cozy corner, Denver is always in his element. He's a polite walker on the leash, but he loves stopping to greet every person he meets and sniff every plant along the way, truly enjoying all the sights, sounds, and smells the world has to offer.

Denver is a true affection-seeker and will happily soak up love and attention. He's also a big fan of peanut butter, so get ready for some sweet moments with your new best friend. He thrives in a home where he has someone around most of the time to keep him company and give him the affection he craves.

It's important to note that Denver is a resource guarder, so he would do best in a home with an experienced owner who can provide guidance on managing this behavior. He's not a fan of cats or young children, so a calm, adult-only home with no other pets is ideal for him.

If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who will fill your days with adventure, affection, and plenty of joy, Denver is ready to meet you. He can't wait to find his forever home where he'll be the center of your world!

Thanks to the generous support of Boca Fiesta, Denver's adoption fee has been sponsored!

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of North Central Florida was created in 2018 when the leadership of the Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue, and Helping Hands Pet Rescue decided to permanently join forces. By becoming the Humane Society of North Central Florida, our organizations were able to effectively streamline services for pets and pet owners, eliminate any duplication of services, maximize our community’s resources, and improve the life-saving abilities of the entire region.

Our founding organizations have been dedicated to serving pets in Alachua County for more than 40 years. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is a limited intake, no-kill animal rescue shelter. The animals in our facility are transferred from open-intake and/or managed admission municipal shelters across North Central Florida. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is an independent, local 501(c)(3) organization. As such, we do not receive funding from federal agencies, nor are we affiliated with any other state or national organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.
