Dexter takes a little time to warm up but once he does he’s a little cuddle bug who thinks he is a cat. The perfect family for Dexter is one who will allow him to warm up to you on his own time. Dexter has been through a lot so his family must be understanding and patient until he learns to trust again. If you can do that, Dexter will make the perfect companion. We prefer he is the only dog in the household.

You may pick up the pet from our rescue sanctuary or we will bring the pet to your home.

Additional adoption info

Complete an application from our website. Once approved, we will invite you to visit our rescue facility/sanctuary to meet our dogs. If the meet and greet is successful, we will schedule a home check. After the home check, an adoption agreement is signed, an adoption fee is paid, and your new pet will be yours! You may pick up your dog from the rescue or we will bring them to you.

Broken Souls Rescue and Recovery is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue facility located in Staten Island, NY. We rescue abused, abandoned, and neglected dogs of all breeds, including the bully breed who are arguably the most misunderstood breed of dogs. We rescue abused dogs abandoned on the streets and rehabilitate them by providing necessary medical care, training, and most importantly, the love and care needed to help them learn to trust again. Our goal is to give abused, traumatized, and neglected dogs a second chance to find love and security with humans who understand their needs.
