Dottie was first in and out of the Miami-Dade Animal Services shelter and a part of a large hoarding case where 29 dogs were confiscated. She was adopted out but then returned to the shelter after her family moved and couldn't take Dottie with them. She has had no stability really and because of the living arrangements of her fosters home, she hasn't been able to be the hound dog that she is. Dottie is now with Anything’s Pawsible Rescue. We had her taken to the vet hospital today to have her fully checked over (bloodwork) and vaccinations, as all of her vaccines had expired and she hadn't received any medical care in over two years, and we wanted to ensure that there was nothing going on within that we needed to know about. The blood work for her kidneys came back elevated, so another more detailed blood test (SDMA) was taken to see if, God forbid, she is in kidney failure. Unfortunately the results weren't what we were hoping for. Dottie has kidney disease. So she is being started on prescription food for her kidneys.
We are also needing a new foster for Dottie because her foster mommy who has been caring for her for the last 16 months is extremely sick and cannot continue to provide her with the care she needs. Dottie is not animal friendly. So she needs a home where there are no other dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. We need a foster in the South Florida area so she can continue her treatment. If you are interested in adopting Dottie, I would suggest fostering her first for a month or two and then if everything is going well, we can then go thru the adoption process.
Dottie is a 4.5 year old English Coonhound Mix who is a sweet but very anxious and nervous little girl. She loves playing with her ball and toys and loves playing in the pool! She needs a foster who is not gone all day and who is patient. She walks great on leash but would do best with a fenced in yard so that she can run out her nervous energy, unless the foster is willing to walk or run several miles with her several times a day.
