My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I need a temp foster from July 12-14!

Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org to sign up to foster!

Hi! I'm Midge. I'm from Missouri.

From her foster: Please meet Midge. We call her Lily and she responds well to that name. She hails from Missouri and is embarking on a fresh, blossoming journey, much like the renewal of spring. She is from a breeder release and, when Midge first joined our family, she didn't recognize her name. We've since called her Lily, symbolizing her new beginning.

Midge aka Lily is a timid dog, scared of virtually everything, including her own shadow. It took a month of gentle patience before she felt comfortable enough to make eye contact without growling. Though she isn't high maintenance, Midge aka Lilyrequires a loving and patient owner who can dedicate time to building her trust-a process that doesn't come easily for her.

Midge aka Lily isn't potty trained yet. She uses pee pads in her pen area but is too frightened to venture outside. Our attempts to take her outdoors resulted in her hiding behind bushes. She's also scared of leashes and strollers. Given her fearfulness, a home with a secure fence where she can safely roam on her own would be ideal.

Despite her fears, Midge aka Lily has a curious spirit and loves to explore, though she's too scared to do so in front of humans. She seems happiest when alone and would thrive in a household with another dog to show her the ropes.

Midge aka Lily is incredibly sweet and adorable. She doesn't require much beyond time and patience and is comfortable in her pen area. Plus, she absolutely loves peanut butter-that's the best way to her heart.

Midge aka Lily doesn't bite and can be left to roam freely without chewing on your belongings. She doesn't shed, and her cuteness will win over everyone's heart. However, she is a scared dog who needs a lot of love and patience.

If you think you can provide the patience and love Midge aka Lily needs, please consider adopting her and come meet this sweet, lovable dog.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
