My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Vivian is a 7-9 year-old, 13.4-lb gal who was found as a stray in Concord. She was scared in the shelter but since she's been in her foster home, her affectionate and happy personality has been shining. She loves walks and hikes, is good with other dogs, is fine in the car and when her foster Mom leaves her at home. She is housebroken but, like most dogs, will probably need a refresher in her new home. She's food motivated, but her favorite thing is cuddling with her people! Vivian is spayed, vaccinated and had a recent dental cleaning. She is a real sweetheart and will be a great addition to her new family.

Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Vivian is $200.

The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy foster to forever transition. The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home check, and an adoption donation. The adoption donation helps to cover spay/neuter, shots and other medical care given before the dog is made available for adoption.

Grateful Dogs Rescue was founded in 1990; its mission is to rescue dogs not made available for adoption at San Francisco Animal Care and Control, and other local shelters, through no fault of their own. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs saves as many as possible by fostering these dogs in a loving home until a forever loving home is found.

Grateful Dogs Rescue is always in need of new foster homes! You can make a difference by fostering. The number of dogs we can save is dependent on having foster parents to care for them until they find their forever homes. All of our dogs are in foster care.
