Meet Major, a sweet little man who just wants to be around his people. This hound dog loves all sorts of activities, especially ones he can use his nose! A big yard with lots of interesting smells and dirt to dig would be perfect for this pup. He can be a bit of a nervous nelly, especially when it comes to storms and big trucks, so patience is a must with our boy. However, whenever something has him down in the dumps, there's nothing that helps him more than attention from his humans. If you're wanting a chill, independent dog who can keep themself busy, Major probably isn't your guy. What can he say? He just loves and cares so deeply he has to let everyone know. Do you have a big family with lots of time to share? Do you enjoy outdoor activities and getting a bit messy? Do you prefer a best friend who'll never leave your side? Major may just be your perfect match! Come meet this sweet hound today!

You’ll meet an Adoption Counselor to go over applications and discuss the animal you’re considering. We work with you to ensure your family, home and new family member is a perfect fit.
2. We’ll review all the documents and permissions (support from other adults in home, landlord permission and home ownership verification).
3. If your adoption is approved, your new pet can go home with you the same day providing they have had their spay/neuter surgery. If they haven't had their surgery yet, we will let you know when their surgery is scheduled and you can usually pick them up the next day.

For 133 years, the Capital Area Humane Society has been sheltering homeless animals, fighting animal cruelty and neglect, and offering programs to address the needs of animals in our community. More than 92 percent of our funding is provided by donations and fees for services. We are not a government agency, and we do not receive general operating support from national organizations. The Capital Area Humane Society relies on the support of private donors and volunteers to make our work possible.
Since 1883 the Capital Area Humane Society has been dedicated to providing only the highest quality of care for everyone we serve, animals and people alike. We are a team of experts—skilled, caring and compassionate people dedicated to our mission of fighting animal cruelty, helping animals in need and advocating for their well-being.
Our Mission
To fight animal cruelty, help animals in need and advocate for their well-being.
Our Vision
All animals live free of suffering and all companion animals are valued members of loving and caring families.
