DOUG NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Come meet Doug and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Nov. 17th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Falls Church (6100 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!
Name: Doug Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/fox terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of October 2024 SEX: Male
Estimated Weight: 22 lbs as of October 2024
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested
Currently Living at: DC area foster home.
Check out this video of Doug: https://youtu.be/1Swb3eke8LA.
Special Adoption Considerations: Because Doug is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.
Doug is Looking For: His forever home. This cutie may look like a big boy but he's really a big older puppy! He hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and is eager to have his own humans for romps in parks and all the adventures they can dream up, and make lots of people and pup pals along the way. Exploring all the toys to see which he likes best sounds great too, And he's excited to go to dog school so he can show how super smart he is!
Most of all, though, he wants to be a well-loved dog for all his days. In exchange he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is he the one you see by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: I’m a shy pup, sure, but don’t a lot of folks understand what that feels like, to be scared? I’m afraid around new people but my big heart has so much love to give. I can learn to trust you if you’ll give me just a little time. I’m small – only 22 pounds at my first birthday this month. I’m fast and playful – I zoom around the backyard with my dog friends at my foster home. I play ball and rip up chew toys. I enjoy my sniffy walks twice a day, though I’m a little too excited when I see deer or squirrels. I go in and stay in my crate without fuss, though I like a Kong or Nylabone to pass time. I don’t have accidents in the house, but might need a little time to figure out my new place. Please give me a chance! Let’s find a quiet place to sit. If you toss me yummy treats, and don’t grab or stare at me, I will be a brave puppy and work on learning to trust. I will inch closer to you and maybe sniff you or lick your hand. Once I learn to trust you, I will hold you in my heart forever.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
