Here's what the humans have to say about me:
If you are looking for a water loving adventure partner who enjoys car rides, toys, and walks in the park, here he is! This is Derrick and there is sooo much more to say about him! There is something about this boy that is like breath of fresh air, he is pure good-boy with all the quintessential elements of a dream dog. Ready to jump in the car, especially if you’re headed to the water, lake, ocean, backyard pool- he is in! If the boy had nothing else going for him, his love of the water would be enough to keep you entertained and happy. Lucky for him and you he is as lovable and entertaining outside of the water too. See for yourself-
Derrick is out of his puppy days at 1 year old, and took to training beautifully! He comes fully loaded with a knowledge of basic commands, great leash skills, awesome house manners, and is both house and crate trained. Its practically the Deluxe package! At 50 lbs he is a great mid-size dog, big enough for the good snuggles, small enough to only take up one cushion on the couch.
If you were on a date with Derrick and the question “what do you like to do?” was asked his answer would be “Play!” Play with toys, other dogs, in the water, etc. he doesn’t need another dog in the home to be happy but he would love one and make a great playmate! He is a social boy who is great meeting new dogs on leash and can read other dogs well, knowing when play is welcome and when a dog is not interested. This same social energy is seen in his love of people. He is a quick friend to new people without being pushy and the welcome his family receives when getting home is any dog-lovers dream, a happy tail, sparkle eyes and a big smile. Derrick is great with kid, especially the 5+ crowd, they get a kick out of playing fetch with him and enjoy having him as a playmate.
An ideal home for Derrick would include a yard but with walks and regular play/fetch sessions, apartment living could suit him perfectly. He is mostly a quiet boy, an occasional bark may sneak out for a knock, and he settles in nicely, with the ability to entertain himself or find a cozy spot for a little nap. If you have a yard you will get to see him roll around in the grass and hold a toy with his front paws- it is adorable watching him be so simply happy. And last but certainly not least, Derrick is quiet the gentleman with feline friends. He would love if they played with him but living with a cat has showed us he can respect their difference in opinion.
Derricks foster home has a female playful dog, a cat and two teenagers. He would love to play with the cat but the kitty doesn't agree! He is very respectful and listens after a good no. He loves to go on runs with his foster siblings for cross country and track team. He is used to being in his kennel while his foster parents are away at work too.
Quick recap- happiest boy, toy-lover, water-enthusiast, adventure buddy ready! He is amazing and going to be the best buddy we all dream of when we imagine a beloved dog. Amazing memories and smiles are guaranteed!

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.
While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:
Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
