Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Gizmo has been with us since May 11th of 2024 when his late owner tragically passed. His whole world was turned upside down in one day. At first, we could barely look at him without him growling, but now he is the sweetest guy with his big personality! His favorite things include drinking from the faucet, catnip, and stealing your warm seat (although he doesn't mind sharing a spot). He has also been seen asking for pets like the polite little gentleman he is. From what we've seen here at the shelter, he does fine with both dogs and cats as long as they respect his boundaries.

Stray Animal Midway Shelter (SAMS) was incorporated in 2010 with our focus being spay neuter assistance. In Noovember of 2013 SAMS purchased property and now operates as a no-kill shelter in Peoria County. We work closely with local and surrounding county shelters and obtain healthy and adoptable pets that would otherwise be euthanized for lack of space. SAMS receives no funding from government, state, county or municiple entities and are funded solelyby fundraising and donations. You can help by volunteering, adopting and donating to our cause.
