For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Nova is a 1 year old Foxhound/German Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog mix who would make a phenomenal companion for an active person or family. She loves the beach, she gets along well with some specific dogs, and she does well with older kids.
Nova has a high prey drive. It is not recommended that she go to a home with chickens or other birds. She’s been sweet and respectful to her family’s elderly Chihuahua. It is unknown if she likes cats.
Nova is 55 pounds, crate trained, housebroken, and walks well on a leash (but she prefers a fenced in yard). She does have a herding instinct. Shes spayed, up to date on shots, and in good health. Shes affectionate but not needy and is happy to sit next to you on the couch.
Nova would do best in an environment where her people are home often, as she’s on Prozac for her anxiety. She’s a fast learner and very athletic. She is not a big barker but she can howl a bit if she’s lonely.
Nova is currently located in Raleigh, NC but transportation assistance to other states is available. Please give this sweet girl a second chance to be the good dog we know she can be.To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.

❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.
