Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
If you’re looking for a dog to be your companion, Manny is a dancing, prancing little bundle of happiness and personality! He loves to chase balls, and he’ll even fetch for a while. He’d be an ideal companion for an outdoors-lover and could definitely excel in a multi-dog household..
Walks are great but Manny needs a yard where he can run around, ideally with a dog and a human playmate. Manny has spent many months in the company of a wide variety of dogs and is a favorite companion and playmate. The friendship continues inside when everyone relaxes and Manny grooms other dogs like he’s a cat. That’s Manny, a unique personality!
Although Manny is fed in a crate and will often seek out his open crate to relax in, he’s had free-rein on the main level in his foster house. Not only is his house-training solid but he doesn’t destroy things that are not his; he owns many toys and chewables that he enjoys gnawing on. However, as with any dog in an unfamiliar home, Manny should be monitored carefully to be sure he has retained those in-home skills.
Manny does seem to think he’s human sometimes and loves to balance and walk on his rear legs. He would benefit greatly from continued training on basic commands like come, sit and stay. Manny is very smart and gentle voice correction or redirection is very useful for him to learn your expectations. He’s also a very affectionate little dog with people and loves to cuddle with you.
Grooming is a breeze with Manny’s short and sleek coat which only requires at-home brushing and washing. If you prefer less shedding inside your home, just increase coat brushing.
Initially, his breed was anyone's guess, but the foster graciously donated a DNA breed kit to use for him. The results: 50.1% pom, 37.2% Russell-type Terrier, and 12.7% Supermutt.
If you would treasure this loving young dog and can commit to providing a forever-home where his health and happiness are priorities, please complete an application for Manny!

All of our adoptions begin with a visit to one of our adoption events. The adoption coordinator and/or the pet's foster parent will review the applications received. The applicant (if any) whose responses best fit the needs of the particular pet will generally be contacted within a week to schedule a home visit. A vet check and personal reference is also required prior to visiting your home. Our non-refundable adoption fee is $250 for dogs, $85 for kittens ($150 for a pair of kittens), and $75 for an adult cat. The fee covers spay/neuter, core vaccines (distemper and rabies), deworming, microchipping, and the general care of the animals. Per our contract, if you cannot keep your adopted pet for any reason, it must be returned to our program. We will try to find it a new home.

More about this rescue
The PGSPCA is a nonprofit organization of volunteers dedicated to animal welfare. We are chartered by the State of Maryland, but we receive no state or county funds. Our activities are supported solely by contributions, dues and fundraising events.
We have three main objectives:
• To reduce the number of unwanted litters of dogs and cats through our progressive spay/neuter program – We have altered more than 20,000 animals over the past five years, many of them at no charge;
• To prevent cruelty to animals and all animal suffering through humane education, neglect and cruelty investigations, protective legal action, and an active dog and cat adoption program – We receive about 1,000 calls a month for cruelty investigations, spay and neuter assistance and adoption requests;
• To protect all animals against suffering and abuse through education on legislation affecting the protection of all animals – We regularly educate the public and provide testimony about animal welfare to county and state legislators.
