My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hola! My name is SUNNY (or "Sunflower") and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Lab/Australian Pinscher Mix

  • Age: approx. 5 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 48 lbs, 22 kg

  • Height: approx. 50 cm (paws to top of head)

  • Length (nose to butt): approx 85cm

  • Current Location: MEXICO CITY

RESCUE STORY – I was taken in during a TNR (trap, neuter, release) program in Mexico City. After I was spayed, I was released back onto the streets of Mexico... but guess what? I decided I'd rather be rescued for good! So I waited outside a rescuers home and when she opened her house gate to feed the neighbourhood strays, I just weaseled my way inside and refused to leave, hehe sorry not sorry! I am well taken care of here at the shelter, but I am so eager to find my forever home (hopefully with you!!)

TEMPERAMENT - I am a sweet, super smart girl who is a very fast learner. I like to play with other dogs and humans and I'm really just such a happy go lucky girl. I am fairly high energy and am built for adventure-- I think I would LOVEEEE all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer! I am pretty chill around my shelter mates and I don't show any resource guarding when food is out (video).

Fun Fact! My name comes from the fun fact that I like to twirl around when I`m going to be fed (in Spanish Sunflower is Gira-sol which translates to “around the sun”).

ENERGY LEVEL - medium/high energy. I require walkies and play time but after I've had sufficient exercise, I'm sure I'll be happy to cuddle up and snooze!

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Unknown.

  • Dogs – Yuppers! I'm social at the shelter and I like hanging out with my friend Pearla (video). I'm a pretty neutral girl around my shelter friends.

  • Cats – Unknown. I haven't met cats, so I don't know how I will behave with them.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – The shelter I live at is on a big property, so I don't get a ton of leash-walkin' experience. Check out my videos though-- I'm not too shabby for having very little practice! (video, video, video) I don't seem at all phased by noisy traffic going by! I pull a little bit sometimes, so I'm looking for a patient adopter who can help me work on my leash manners.

  • House trained – Not yet! With multiple dogs at the shelter, I don't get the 1-on-1 attention needed to achieve house training status. Positive reinforcement and lots of frequent bathroom breaks will help me learn new habits in my forever home :)

Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed and vaccinated. I have proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will have my teeth cleaned before I fly home!

  • I receive a monthly pill to prevent heartworm.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD ($650.00 + GST & PST)
