My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Jolly Giant arrived:
Jolly Giant was brought in by a community member on 4/28/24.

Why Jolly Giant is the one for you:
Say hi to Jolly Giant, the sweetest pup you'll ever lay eyes on! He's currently living the good life in a foster home. Here is what the foster says about him: "JG is a wonderfully easy-going dog. He is quiet and very calm around people and our other dog. Even with his hearing loss, he is quickly learning house rules and routines. He knows hand signs for "come" and "sit" and is learning "move" and "stay". Treats are a great tool for teaching him. He also loves walks and pets on his neck and chest but so far he is not very interested in toys. He will use a doggie door to take himself outside but will also request to go out. He does not go up stairs but he will get up on a low couch for his afternoon nap."

At SDHS:
Jolly Giant is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Jolly Giant is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
