Meet Angelo – The Gentle Soul Looking for His Forever Home!

Angelo is a sweet, sensitive and calm angel who has been waiting patiently at the shelter to find a loving family to call his own. While he may be a little shy at first, it doesn’t take long for his affectionate side to shine through. Angelo is dog-friendly and gets along well with other pups, and has great potential to live with cats.
He’s also crate trained, house trained and well-mannered so he’s already mastered the basics of being a wonderful housemate. Angelo has a medium energy level, meaning he’s just as happy lounging by your side as he is enjoying a nice walk or playtime.
This gentle, loving boy would thrive in a home that understands his need for a little extra time to come out of his shell. Once he does, he’ll reward you with endless loyalty and affection. Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
