Like the rest of us, Finti (formerly Lyra) has had a difficult year, partially due to the pandemic. She and sibling, Orion/Muffin, now need a new home due to the changed circumstances of their adoptive family.
Finti is big and beautiful, with the characteristic Maine Coon “floof”, a long brown tiger coat, and small white markings around her mouth. At just over two years of age, she has outgrown her brother and now weighs in at 14.2 pounds! Finti is up to date on vaccinations and veterinary care. She came to us greatly in need of grooming, and we are working on that gradually, which she tolerates on her schedule.
Ms. Finti, however, is a very shy girl. She was a bit shy as a kitten, now is even more so. In spite of her shyness though, when she decides she is ready she seeks out attention and affection from her resident foster humans. (Not to be indelicate, this frequently occurs when a human is sitting in the bathroom late at night. Go figure.) She is having a bit more difficulty getting comfortable with the other cats than brother Muffin/Orion, as well. Finti knows her name, but does not come when called.
During kittenhood, Finti spent lots of time with Dolly the Collie, but now seems uncertain about whether to trust the big dog with the long nose. She is likely to be shy of all dogs at this point.
Finti MUST be adopted with sibling Muffin (formerly Orion.) With her shy disposition, she absolutely needs to be with her bonded sibling. A lot of time, patience, and TLC are going to be required for her to make yet another transition to an adoptive home. Could that home be yours?

Meet little Lyra, constellation of star qualities! From her sweet face and glowing golden eyes to the tip of her fluffy fluffy tail, she is an adorable bundle of cuteness. Lyra loves to race, wrestle, and play with her siblings and toys, nap in the sun, and keep an eye on those feathery flying things she sees out the window! She was quite shy upon arrival in her foster home, but has grown much more comfortable and confident in every way. A slow, patient approach will win her trust. This little darling came within a whisker of being released to fend for herself as part of a feral cat spay and release program! Fortunately, Maine Coon Rescue was alerted and able to bring her to the safety of a loving foster home. Lyra is bonded to her sibling, Orion, and will do best adopted together as a pair. Could these siblings become the “stars” of your home and family?
