Update 8/21/24 - Clara has been having a great time in her foster home where she lives with another older dog. Clara gets along well with other dogs, but she is still a rambunctious puppy who can be a bit much at times for older dogs, like her foster parents' dog. Like any young pup, she would do well in a home that can provide her with consistent training and structure. She does do well with children, but she can get a little nippy when she's excited, so she may be best in a home with older children who can correct her. She is extremely food-motivated, which always makes training easier. Her foster parents report that she is fully housetrained and crate-trained. They do report that she can be reactive at times, so that's just something to be aware of. She does not love cats, but her foster parents are working with her on that. Clara is a good dog that just needs a family of her own. Her fosters will not be able to keep her after September 22nd, so we are really hoping to find a permanent home for Clara or a new foster parent by then. Please let us know if you're interested!

Clara is a ground-sniffing connoisseur! So far, she has shown an even temperament during her short stay and has been matched with another female kennel mate! She is going to need a home that will accommodate her higher energy level - she is young and will need long walks or time outside to burn off energy.
If you are interested in Clara, give us a call at 706-795-2868 so that we can set up a meet and greet with her foster parents. Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.
Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. We are open intake, meaning we can not turn away animals from either county we serve. Our shelter intakes double or triple it's capacity every month so it is essential we place animals quickly into adoptive homes. Since so many animals enter the shelter we often don't have enough volunteers to write an individual bio for each. Please feel free to call the shelter Wednesday-Sunday to inquire about the animal you are interested in. 706-795-2868.
Viewing and adoption hours at our shelter are Wednesday through Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM. All adoption fees include age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, and spay or neuter, microchip, and adoption packet. Fees: Dogs over 6 months old: $100 Puppies under 6 months: $200. Cats and Kittens are $75 ($65 without microchip).
For your convenience you can fill out an adoption application for any of our current residents at www.moaspets.com. Join us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/moaspets. NOTE: Our adoptions are first come first served, simply filling out an application does not mean the animal will be held for you, you must come meet the animal in person in order to be considered for adoption. If you rent you must bring your lease or a letter from your landlord stating you may adopt.
