My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Sushi is at The Cat Cafe in downtown San Diego. ***

Black/brown tabby, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 3/18/21, #18979

Other cats: good solo or possibly one other cat
Dogs: unknown
Children: unknown

Sushi was one of many cats found in a hoarder’s house. She was heavily pregnant when a Good Samaritan rescued her and she soon gave birth to five kittens. Their benefactor reached out to The Rescue House and the family moved into foster care so Sushi could raise her babies. Now that her maternal duties are over, she is looking forward to finding a loving home of her own.

Sushi is a very affectionate kitty who both wants and gives lots of love. She likes to be in your lap though can be a bit restless about settling for the long haul nap there just yet… as she learns that she is in a stable place with her permanent people, we think she’ll become a great little lap warmer. And in the meantime, Sushi craves your attention however she can get it. She was an excellent mom and was very patient with her offspring, though she has much less patience with brooms and vacuum cleaners! Sushi views them as opponents to be vanquished, and she has no qualms about marching right up to give them the what-for. But her default setting is generally calm, watchful, and always hungry! Sushi gave her body’s resources to her kittens without fail, and she is now happily replenishing those reserves while appreciating that she doesn’t have to compete for food like she did before. Sushi is missing a few patches of fur on her side that the vet has identified as scars from past trauma; though she is healthy and doing well, it is unlikely the fur will regrow in those spots. Sushi loves a good stretch-and-scratch and will need multiple and various sisal poles and cardboard scratchers… and a tall cat tree would be marvelous!

Sushi might be hissy with other cats at first until she learns the lay of the land, but she certainly has plenty of experience with them; however, we think she’d best like to either be a solo kitty or co-exist with just one other cat rather than be part of a large clowder again. We don’t know her thoughts on dogs or children.

Sushi is a sweet and scrappy kitty who has been through some tough times yet never lost her love of people. Will you make her dreams come true and be her forever person?
