My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maximus is a handsome chocolate boy looking for an active family to call his own and a life filled with adventures! A bit shy when he first arrived at the shelter, Maximus has settled in and has come a long way! Here’s what some of his friends have said:

“Maximus is a high energy boy that I love to take out when I need to burn a few calories. We head over to one of the play yards to burn off a little energy. He loves the water and enjoys splashing in the pool. After his swim, we head out to the wash for some exploring where he settles into an energetic but more relaxed pace. He is a delightful walking companion, checking in regularly with good eye contact. After checking out all the rabbits and lizards, we head back towards the shelter. Back in his kennel he offers a solid sit for unleashing. His great behavior is rewarded with treats and affection. Maximus has a lot of energy and intelligence and will do well with an experienced partner to help him with his leash manners. He is treat- motivated and eager to please and should be a quick study!”

“Oh, Maximus!! Today was my first time meeting Maximus and he was a hoot! He was friendly and eager to get out of his kennel. He led me down to the pond and to my surprise, he got right in! He was SO happy; I let him have a few moments to relax in the water. In just a few seconds, he completely submerged himself in the shallow water and was the HAPPIEST boy splashing around. He’s a fun-loving boy. The next time I see him, I’ll take him to a play yard with a pool!”

If you’re looking for a fun- loving water dog, look no further!! This goofy boy has never seen a body of water he didn’t want to jump in! Maximus has done well with several different kennelmates and has been social and playful when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. Maximus is ready to leave the shelter with you today- ask to meet him!!
