My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rooster: A Loving Giant with a Heart for his Humans!
Meet Rooster, a 2-year-old pit rottie mix who's bursting with personality and love. This big boy, weighing in at a hefty 70 pounds, is a total sweetheart. Rooster is a happy-go-lucky dog with a hilarious sense of humor and a deep affection for his humans.
One of Rooster's most endearing traits is his love for cuddles. He's always eager to snuggle up with his favorite people, whether it's on the couch or in bed. He's also well-behaved and crate-trained, making him a great addition to any household.
While Rooster may be cautious with some new people at first, he quickly warms up and makes friends forever. He's an amazing companion for kids and adults alike and gets along wonderfully with cats and other dogs. Rooster would thrive in a family with kids and a large fenced yard where he can play and run with his canine siblings.
Despite his impressive size, Rooster is a gentle giant with a submissive nature. He's always eager to please his humans and is quick to apologize if he's done something wrong. Rooster's loving heart and playful spirit make him a beloved member of the rescue community and a volunteer favorite.
If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, and fun-loving companion, Rooster is the perfect dog for you. He's a big boy with an even bigger heart, and he's ready to fill your life with love and laughter.

Rooster's adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue's care.
We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website. www.northernlakesrescue.org

Go meet their pets

Northern Lakes Rescue is foster based so all dogs are being fostered by amazing volunteers across the state of MN. Because of this, we require all meet and greets to be scheduled after an application is submitted.

Our focus after you apply is to get you scheduled to meet the dog within 3 to 7 days.

More about this rescue

Our Vision is to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We hear them with our hearts and give them a voice. Looking into the eyes of a rescued animal will speak volumes; watching those eyes light up will have an everlasting impact on you and the rescued animals.

We aren’t a typical rescue as we don’t take in dogs and put them in kennels until they’re adopted. All dogs we rescue are placed in loving foster homes that teach them to be the best dog they can be.

Our journey doesn’t end with adoption, either. We are here for you to support you in integrating your new member into your home, cheer new triumphs, and help with struggles.
