My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rooster (aka Bently)) - Seeking My Furever Family!
Hey there! My name's Rooster, though you might know me as Bentley from my younger days. I came from a litter of pups found in a parking lot with our emaciated momma and was lucky enough to find a foster home at a young age.
Here's the scoop on me:
Kid-tested, dog-approved: I did great with young kids in my first home, and I get along swimmingly with my furry foster siblings.
Independent, but cuddly: I'm learning to chill out even when there's excitement around, but let's be honest, who doesn't love a good cuddle?
Toy time is my prime time: Give me a squeaky toy or a good bone, and I'm one happy pup!
Master of my domain (almost): I'm completely housebroken and kennel trained (though I might make some funny noises to let you know I'd rather be out and about).
New friends are cool (with treats): I'm working on overcoming my initial shyness with strangers, and treats definitely help speed up the warming-up process.
Looking for:
A patient and understanding family who can appreciate my goofy personality.
Someone willing to continue my training on stranger socialization.
A home with or without furry friends, I'm adaptable!
If you're looking for a loyal, playful pup who's eager to learn and grow, then I might just be your perfect match!
P.S. Don't worry about the funny kennel noises, they're just my way of saying "Let's go play!"
Rooster's adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue's care.
We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website. www.northernlakesrescue.org

Go meet their pets

Northern Lakes Rescue is foster based so all dogs are being fostered by amazing volunteers across the state of MN. Because of this, we require all meet and greets to be scheduled after an application is submitted.

Our focus after you apply is to get you scheduled to meet the dog within 3 to 7 days.

More about this rescue

Our Vision is to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We hear them with our hearts and give them a voice. Looking into the eyes of a rescued animal will speak volumes; watching those eyes light up will have an everlasting impact on you and the rescued animals.

We aren’t a typical rescue as we don’t take in dogs and put them in kennels until they’re adopted. All dogs we rescue are placed in loving foster homes that teach them to be the best dog they can be.

Our journey doesn’t end with adoption, either. We are here for you to support you in integrating your new member into your home, cheer new triumphs, and help with struggles.
