Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ace is such a wonderful pup. He`s great in the car and loves to hang out in the back seat during rides. He has a spirit of adventure and enjoys exploring new places, which always seems to spark joy in him—it`s like he’s saying thank you every time we discover something new together!

On walks, he’s really good on the leash, and he’s such an affectionate guy. He takes treats gently, which is always a plus!

One of the cutest things is his white-tipped tail; it really lets me know where he is when we`re outside. He loves to check in for cuddles, and his medium energy means he enjoys playtime but is also happy to relax and hang out. Plus, he’s a fan of (shallow end!) water—whether it’s splashing in a kiddie pool or going for a swim, he’s always up for some fun in the water!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
