My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Prosciutto!

This gorgeous, silky girl is SO special. Her experienced foster parents have never met such a conversational cat with such a large vocabulary (so many different sounds and intonations, all with different meanings). She deserves a person/family that wants to learn her language and appreciates and enjoys her communication style as much as we do.

Prosciutto was found on the streets in South City, matted, hungry, and with an untreated ear infection (which is why she has a perma-cauliflower ear that only makes her more adorable). She's now been spayed, vaccinated and vetted, and is ready for her forever home.

Prosciutto is a very sensitive and at times anxious soul (not a fan of change or not knowing where her person is). She is a very gentle cat, and has never shown any signs of aggression. She LOVES all women/femmes and will relax, hang out, accept and ask for love, and bond pretty quickly. She has also done well with smaller, quieter men. She was anxious/scared/hiding, but did OK with gentle and quiet children that understood cat body language and consent (plus treats...she loves 'em!). She's intimidated by deep/loud male voices and larger/taller male bodies, and is still jumpy with her amazing cat foster dad, just because he's a bigger, louder guy. She's always more relaxed when it's only the ladies at home.

Due to her separation anxiety, we believe she'd do best with constant or near-constant loving companionship, whether in human or animal form. She is not a lap cat, but requires love, pets and snuggles throughout the day, and always wants to be close to her person/people. She is just starting to figure out how to play and is mostly interested in strings and string wand toys at this time. She is a litter box and scratching post champ!

It seems she may have been raised around dogs based on some of her behaviors, and she has shown interest in our outdoor feral cat that visits, dogs walking past our house, and kitten and cat videos. I think she might do well with other pets as long as they are relatively calm and gentle. She could potentially be an amazing kitten foster mama!

There's so much more to say, but trust us, this girl is one of a kind. If you think Prosciutto could be your perfect forever family member, we'd love for you to meet!

More about this rescue

Tenth Life's Mission:
Giving cats the lives they deserve.
At Tenth Life, we believe that every cat, regardless of emotional or physical limitations, deserves the chance at a fulfilling and happy life.
We provide veterinary care, foster homes, and adoptive placement to stray cats and kittens, prioritizing those with special needs. We work to end unnecessary euthanasia and cat homelessness through educational outreach, community programs, and collaborative partnerships.

Only when a trusted veterinarian determines that a cat is in a state of incurable suffering, does Tenth Life relieve them of their pain through gentle and humane euthanasia. This difficult and thoughtful decision is never made in response to a lack of space, negative behaviors, or because a cat's medical needs are challenging or expensive.
