Do you need a cat for your cat? If so, look no further than Flop! This boy absolutely adores other cats. People? He's still a little unsure. He is our official kitty welcoming committee in our cafe kitchen space, and does the job extremely well. He is playful and affectionate with cats, and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. With people, he doesn't like being touched without a lot of bribery (his preferred form of bribery is churu and other treats). We think in a home he may be more amenable to humans, but for now he is mainly ready to be your cat's best friend. He also loves playing with humans and cats alike so if you have a wand toy, he will be happy to chase it around. We also don't recommend he go to a house with young children, as they may not respect his boundaries.

This cat has been diagnosed with a heart murmur and had an echocardiogram -- we would appreciate it if their potential adopter could help us cover this cost in lieu of an adoption donation.

This cat needs to be adopted with a friend -- applications for them as a single cat will not be answered.

By appointment only. We offer to drive prospective adoptive prospects to the foster home. We also deliver pets to their new homes.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
