My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Zara was brought in by her previous owner.

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for her new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Zara, this beautiful young girl is bursting with love and energy! Zara is a playful and affectionate companion who adores cuddles and long walks. She's a social butterfly around humans and larger dogs but might not be the best fit for households with small dogs. A consult with a behavior trainer is required if Zara is going home with another dog. Zara thrives in an active environment where she can run and explore to her heart's content. With her loyal and loving nature, Zara is ready to bring joy and adventure to her forever home. Please visit Zara at our Escondido campus.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
