Lincoln is a special dog. He came to us as a 3 day old puppy whose mom was killed. He was one of 8 puppies. They got off to a rough start and kept having to go to the hospital. We finally got them well and fully vaccinated, fixed and adopted.
A few days before Christmas Lincoln developed Distemper. He never had upper respiratory or discharges, but he did show signs of GI issues as a weanling. This boy is a fighter. He managed to survive distemper and received a negative titer test in early February. He does have a significant swing, which is a neurological issue he will probably have for life as a result of the distemper.
He has found a friend in Hazel. They were fostered together from the time Lincoln was recovering from distemper. When he is with Hazel, the swing is less noticeable, but it is still there. He was lucky enough to be adopted with Hazel, but they both just came back due to their adopter moving into an apartment. The responsibility of walking the dogs daily was too much for her, so they are once again homeless.
We would love to see him rehomed with Hazel; however we know it is unlikely we will find a family willing to take on two dogs, when one has this handicap.
If you are interested in adopting Lincoln (or if he is extremely blessed both Lincoln and Hazel) you can apply at www.adoggie4you.org. Lincoln's adoption fee is $300. If you take both Lincoln and Hazel the adoption fee will be $400.
