My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My adoption fee has been fully sponsored.
Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!

I am a beautiful girl with lots of energy and love to give. I enjoy taking walks and runs with my amazing long legs. I`m a good girl but I am young and will need some guidance and general training. I love the people who come to visit me and seem happy to see other dogs too. I will need careful introductions to people, pets, and children as I can get really excited and that can be a bit much for some humans and pets. But I am definitely a lovebug!
Like many dogs in NC, I am currently heartworm positive. OCAS will be helping by beginning my treatment but you`ll need to follow up with your veterinarian! During treatment I will be on an oral medication and will need to get a topical solution monthly until I have a Negative Heartworm Test. If you have any questions about this please ask to speak with a member of the medical staff.
INSIGHTS FROM MY DOG DAY OUT:
`Parrot overnight stay was really good! She appears to be housetrained and knows the command `sit` and will come when I whistle. She has puppy energy still but will sit quietly under table when I eat. She gets easily excited and makes sqeaky barks. She walks when on leash until she sees another dog and gets excited. She calms down after a careful introduction. She is very food motivated and trainable. She likes to play with toys but not much interested in fetch yet. She loves people and and attention but needs to kearn not to jump up on people. She may get overexcited by small children so maybe better for family with older children. Very curious and investigates into everything. She doesn`t
like being left alone, so crate training may be beneficial if she has any separation anxiety.`

Additional adoption info

Please visit http://www.orangecountync.gov/287/Available-Pets if you have questions about available pets, adopting, or visiting our facility. You may also call 919-942-7387, option 3, to speak with a staff member at our adoption desk.
If the staff is unable to answer right away, please leave a clear message with your full name and contact number. Our staff responds to messages in the order they are received. Every effort will be made to respond to messages the same day, but it is possible that you may not receive a callback until the next business day due to the high volume of calls we often receive. See our operating hours on our website.

-Adopting-
Some animals can be taken home the same day they are adopted, but those adoptions must occur before a certain time of day and are dependent upon several factors. If you are interested in taking a pet home on the same day you adopt, please consult with the adoption desk to find out if that pet is able to go home right away. See more information on adoption and adoption fees on our website.
