Meet Mittens! Mittens a sweet and gentle soul who has made remarkable progress in overcoming her fears. With lots of patience and love, we`ve allowed her to bloom at her own pace. Loud noises and commotion can still startle her. A home with teens and adults would be best for Mittens. She thrives in quiet, calm environments where she feels safe and secure. Mitten`s ideal home is one with understanding humans who are willing to give her the time and space she needs to continue building her confidence. With slow introductions and lots of TLC, Mittens will reward you with gentle kisses and affection. Mittens also appreciates slow introductions when meeting other dogs. WHO WE ARE

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) (formerly the Tippecanoe County Humane Society) was founded in 1939 by a group of local animal lovers in Tippecanoe County. Since its beginning more than 60 years ago, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community.

We are not a government agency, are not affiliated with any national organization, and we are not a United Way Agency. We are an open-admission shelter and we accept all animals in need, regardless of age, health or adoptability. As a local non-profit we exist through the generosity of our community.

MISSION STATEMENT

We, the Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS), care deeply about the comfort and rights of animals and citizens within our area. As such, we strive to enhance the relationship between people and animals through education, to control the pet population through responsible advocacy, and to provide sanctuary for unwanted, lost, and neglected animals.

NON-PROFIT STATUS

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) is an independent, nonprofit agency. We are not funded by any governmental or national animal welfare organization. We are a private, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education, and we are governed by a volunteer board of directors.
