My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You may remember Lexi coming in to PAWS as an abandoned dog with a massive growth in her abdomen. Many of you contributed to her life-saving surgery. She is doing GREAT and has been cleared for adoption!
What you need to know: Lexi is a SPECIAL NEEDS adoption

-Lexi is a senior (probably close to 12 years of age)

-Lexi has had a kidney removed and has liver disease; there is no guarantee on how long she has left or what her medical expenses may be, but she is currently doing GREAT!

-Lexi is 90% house trained... what does that mean? If there`s an open portal to get outside she will use it 99.5% of the time. Accidents are extremely rare and should be taken as a potential UTI and go to the vet because it`s abnormal. What does an open portal mean? Open sliding glass door or propped open doggie door. If she has to push the flap open on the doggie door, sometimes she just doesn`t have it in her legs to do it!

- Lexi doesn`t care to be held and loved on, HOWEVER, if she chooses to jump up and snuggle next to you, she`ll be there for a long as you are! She loves pets and is incredibly sweet and loving, on her terms.

- Lexi has pretty bad teeth, she is on wet food, but still occasionally likes her dry kibble. She would benefit from a dental, but there are risks with anesthetic at her age and health.

-Lexi takes a little time to warm up, but once she identifies you as her person, she will get the cutest little spin and tail wag and meet you at the door. She occasionally has the energy to play on the couch, but she tires out pretty quickly!

-Lexi will need regular grooming and nail trims, she has the softest fluffiest fur, but it mats and doesn`t smell great after she cleans herself with those teeth. She gets foot sore without her nails being taken care of!

If you want a small dog that 70% of the time just sleeps on the couch by herself, 25% sleeps on the couch next to you, and 5% of the time eats and goes outside, Lexi is the girl for you ?? She just wants a loving home for whatever time she has left!
