My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My Adoption Fee is Waived!

Meet Bumper, an 80-pound bundle of love! This young male German Shepherd mix might look big, but his heart is even bigger. In the play yard Bumper is the definition of mellow – he’s calm, patient, and incredibly sweet. He adores affection, whether it’s a gentle scratch behind the ears or a cozy cuddle on the couch. Bumper gets along wonderfully with other dogs, always showing patience and understanding. He is a strong puller on leash.  A family that willing to teach him leash manners is best.  If you’re looking for a gentle giant to complete your family, Bumper is your perfect match. Come meet this affectionate boy and let him steal your heart!

Bumper is a strong boy on leash but able to be redirected. He doesn`t care for fetch but loves tug-of-war. He can get a little overstimulated from playtime and pets, and play growls/barks, so please be careful with any children - he is having fun but it is in a rowdy way. He also likes to cool off in the pool. He is somewhat easily distracted and hyper so could benefit from training.

Bumper has participated in shelter playgroups with higher energy dogs and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home.  He gets better and better each playgroup and is now a helper dog in playgroups, which means he helps new dogs have a good time and he helps manage the group.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:
