For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Little Bear is a sweet and loving three-year-old Australian Shepherd. He's only known life as a beloved family member. His family had a baby, and now they don't have the time for his needs.
He would love a caring home and living an adventuous lifestyle, and also time snuggling watching Netflix! Ideally his new guardian(s) would be open to taking him on daily adventures and meeting the mental enrichment needs of his breed. He's been doing great going on off-leash hikes in the mountains, and he thrives with fun and love.
Little Bear has always lived in the mountains, but he regularly goes to daycare in Boulder and does well there.
He's housetrained, great with dogs, no experience with cats; and he rides great in the car.
We at SDR absolutely love this dog! He's a special soul, and his people want to set him up for continued happiness and success. A nominal adoption fee would be paid to his current guardians, and his adopter will be required to sign up for training with one of our recommended fear-free trainers in order to ensure his success in his new home.
For more info and/or to apply to adopt Little Bear, send us an email at summitdogrescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.

Additional adoption info
First you must fill out an application which we will review. Then we will do a phone interview, reference check and finally a home visit before a dog is placed in your home. We ONLY adopt to homes where the dog is an indoor dog, part of the family and treated as such. We stress excellent nutrition, proper training and follow up with all our adopters.
We are probably have one of the more thorough and difficult adoption processes... and we love that people want to adopt and don't want to discourage adopters! So please, if you're in a hurry, or not an exceptional furever home - please try other rescues or a SHELTER is a great option too!
