My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Interested in a small breed pup who is a lover and a character and can be an adorable rascal! Meet Shaila!

Shaila is an adorable 8-9 lb chihuahua with a face like a pug. She is only 8 months old but we dont think she'll get much bigger. She's cuddly, loves to be with her person, pretty much obedient at such a young age, and is doing great on house training. Shaila should be easy to train as she loves treats and play.

She loves people of all types and is great with other dogs. Check out the video of Shaila playing with her little foster siblings. She would much rather be with you than her crate but she will go into the crate.

Shailas perfect home would be with someone who is home much of the time and loves to cuddle and play. A fenced in yard would be great for play and potty opportunities. She can be a little rascal since she is still a puppy so a patient kind family would be great. Another dog in the home would be fine but should be brought to any meet n greet to ensure the feeling is mutual.

If this sweet little character sounds like the one for you, apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Our adoption process takes several steps and cannot be completed in one day. All of our volunteers work full time and assist the rescue in their spare time. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

* Applicants must be willing to make a ten plus year commitment to their new family member.

* Applicants must commit to daily exercise, walks, trips to the dog park or play in the back yard. A well exercised dog is a happy well behaved dog!

* Applicants living in a rental property must provide proof of pet policy from landlord.

* Applicants must provide a veterinarian reference and if there are existing dogs in the household. All pets must be spayed/neutered and current on all shots and heartworm medication.

*Please allow at least a 7-14 day adjustment period for your new dog. Rescue dogs go thru a lot of changes and need a few days to get used to their new surroundings and adjust. Adopting a dog should be a serious commitment, so please be willing to work out the kinks. Our dogs aren't perfect but with proper training and guidance they make awesome, loving pets.

*Our adoption fees vary based on the age and medical needs of the dogs.
