Here's what the humans have to say about me:
When Beau's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the gorgeous (and extremely dirty and matted) Beau tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how beautiful (inside and out) and sweet this Poodle / Wheaten Terrier is and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Beau became a treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future.
Beau is just about 8 years young (such a great age..old enough to be very calm and past any babyish behaviors and young enough to have many healthy, happy years remaining). Beau weighs approximately 24 pounds of cottony-soft cuteness. This is a perfect size for long walks on gorgeous Colorado trails or neighborhood strolls for fun and socialization. And then at day's end Beau will be perfect for a couch or bed companion all night long.
Beau is such a devoted and smart little guy. Since he's been in his foster home, he is a much more relaxed and confident dog. He is literally blossoming! Initially this poor little guy was so frightened due to all the changes in his life but with patience and love, he's truly coming out of his shell!. Beau has made progress each and every day with his wonderful foster and has become a much more well-adjusted dog who is open to loving new relationships and fun adventures.
Beau has been diagnosed with cataracts that have resulted in partial to complete blindness. We're not certain how much our sweet guy can see, but we do know that he has no idea he has a disability. He's a happy and sweet as can be guy that loves life and all the adventures it holds.
There are now excellent surgeries available to give dogs like Beau their vision back. Farfel's has looked into this surgery over the years for several of our rescue dogs and all are now happily living a life with the gift of vision. This is our prayer for Beau as well and we're happy to do a Go Fund Me to help as best we can with the cost.
Beau loves his walks where he can socialize with dog-loving neighbors and their pets. He is such a fun and silly guy that we hope his new family will choose to spend lots of time enjoying his antics. Every day when Beau's foster mom comes home from errands, she's greeted by a very joyous and loving Beau giving happy kisses and dancing a jig of joy.
Farfel's Rescue has made the decision that we'd like to see Beau in a home with loving and devoted retirees that spends lots of time at home..or enjoy taking their furry best friend along. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for this people-loving guy. Beau is also a perfect take-along sized guy so it's easy to just scoop him up and snuggle him under your arm. Beau likes the car and is very happy strapped into his car seat to safely enjoy the ride.
Beau is at his absolute best with adults. He's much more comfortable with the quiet energy that they bring to a home. A walk followed by time on the couch or bed snuggling with his favorite people would speak to this little dog. He would be overjoyed to be part of a family of lower energy folks. It would match his own energy level and he would be a great match for that family.
Beau is unknown with cats. He's compatible, however, with like-sized dogs with similar energy levels to his own. Beau doesn't require a doggy friend to be happy. If his family is attentive and enjoys spending time with their dog, they're perfect for the wonderful Beau, If our sweet guy is adopted as an only dog with a family that will shower full-time love and pampering on him. He will return that love and kindness a million times over as he falls more and more in love with his brand new family.
Beau is a non- shedding guy (and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today). He will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately every 8 - 10 weeks) and excellent nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement coupled with 5 star food is a great regimen to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and matte-free.
Beau will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 5/10/2024. If interested in this gorgeous and very cuddly, loyal and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Beau, please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder,or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!
