My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Janie and Jazzy are at Petsmart Encinitas adoption center. ***

Janie: black & brown tabby w/white, short hair, spayed female, born 8/11/23, #18731
Jazzy: brown & black tabby w/white chin, short hair, spayed female, born 8/11/23, #18733

Cats: enjoy company
Dogs: unknown
Children: respectful older kids

A dog rescuer saved Janie and Jazzy’s mom from a dangerous environment when she was pregnant and about to give birth. She had been closed in a bathroom with other cats to keep her safe from the father in the house who was threatening to poison all of them. The adult daughter living there reached out for urgent help and ended up in touch with a woman involved in canine rescue. That lady proceeded to spring the mommy-to-be from her restroom prison and contacted The Rescue House. Several of their siblings have already found their homes; Janie and Jazzy are hoping to settle into a permanent place of their own very soon!

Janie and Jazzy are very playful girls! Once they are established in an environment, they will romp and run around together. They enjoy all kinds of toys, though admittedly their favorites are things that seemingly and mysteriously move on their own. So pick up an interactive wand or a laser pointer and you’ll have their attention. When your arm gets tired, we highly recommend their favorite specific toy: a motorized butterfly they discovered at the adoption center… they’ll play with that for hours! Janie and Jazzy are both reserved when meeting new people and they will need patience and proactive introductions when adjusting to a new environment. The more time you spend with them, the more they come out of their shells and become your cute kitty buddies; kindness and understanding reaps wonderful rewards, and they are worth the wait. Janie is more cautious of her surroundings, but after she accesses it she shows her bravery and ventures out… despite clearly being a cat, she is absolutely adorable with her “puppy dog” eyes. Jazzy is more adventurous and enjoys exploring.

They would be thrilled if they get to stay together and get along well with other cats. Despite a dog rescuer being their savior, we don’t know their thoughts on the canine species. Younger and more boisterous children would likely be a bit much for them, but older kids who are respectful and gentle (and importantly, operate the toys!) may be fine. They just need understanding that it will take them time to adjust.
