My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dyson is a sweet and sensitive soul who can be a bit shy and fearful around new people. She requires a patient and understanding home to help her feel secure and build confidence. Dyson is more comfortable and relaxed around women, indicating that a female caregiver or household member could help her adjust more smoothly.

Dyson thrives in the company of other dogs and has successfully lived with cats. A home with other friendly dogs can help Dyson feel more at ease and provide her with the social interaction she enjoys.

An adopter with experience handling fearful dogs would be ideal, as they can provide the understanding care Dyson needs. Once Dyson warms up to her person, she is a loyal and affectionate dog that would be a wonderful adventure companion.

Multiple meet and greets will be required to help Dyson feel comfortable to ensure that the match is not rushed. If you would like to welcome Dyson into your heart and home, please submit an application online or contact the shelter 250-493-0136 for further information.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
