Mickey is a friendly, outgoing and confident kitty about 3 who came to us as a stray. He gets along with other nice cats and would love to play with older children. He is so happy watching all the activity at Petco but sadly has been passed over several times for younger kitties.
Mickey has been at Petco for five weeks which is almost double our normal length of stay. We have reduced his adoption donation to just $100 and are offering him to go home as a foster to adopt so you can "try before you buy".
Mickey tested positive for FIV, also known at kitty Aids. Just like with people it is NOT contagious through casual contact. It's safe to share food, water, and litter box with a negative cat.
FIV is typically only passed by a deep bite wound, where saliva from the positive cat enters the blood stream of another kitty. This is very rare in socialized house cats.
FIV cats may have a shorter life span in part due to the fact that with a compromised immune system they are more prone to contracting infections. FIV positive cats must live strictly indoors to reduce the chances of contracting something dangerous.
FIV positive cats can live well into their teens and live a very normal life. Percy is currently living side by side in a foster home with several negative cats. His eyes tend to be a little watery and we recommend Lysine (an immune system booster) at least once a day mixed into his canned food.
If interested in taking Mickey home, please submit our Adoption or Foster Application. See this kitty in purrson at PETCO, 4559 Main St, Bridgeport any time they're open!
