My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am Captain, a 4-year-old, 70 lb Lab-Border Collie mix on a mission to find that special place to call home with some special people who are looking for a new best friend. I am crate and potty trained, and fully vaccinated. In me, you will find a dog who's excellent at following basic commands like sit, down, shake, back up, wait, come and quiet. I am an amazing snuggle buddy, too, fond of treats, toys, snuggles and praise. And, if you welcome me into your life, you'll never be lonely. While I have enough energy to walk, run and hike with you, I am also calm enough to be your favorite couch companion and to be left on my own around the house. Like many humans, I can be shy at first around new people - especially excited kids. Once I get to know you, though, I am loyal, respectful and goofy. I get along well with other dogs, though a child, cat, and chicken free home would be best. I am great at walking on a leash. I am very curious about the world and would like someone to enjoy it with.

With an adoption fee generously sponsored by Bench Chiropractic, I am ready to report for duty as a new best friend for that special someone who is patient and who can offer consistency and understanding that all good dogs deserve.

Please fill out an application for me at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-applicationNovember 7, 2024, 6:37 am

Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
