My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Tuna was brought in by a community member.

At SDHS:
Tuna has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Tuna is a shy guy who warms quickly to people but prefers to go at his own pace. However, once he's had the chance to become comfortable, he will reveal his goofy, playful side and solicit pets and attention. If you're lucky, you may even get a rollover inviting you to scratch his belly! While in our care, we have seen his confidence blossom while on walks with other dogs and have witnessed his adorable delight as he catches stuffed toys. He's looking for a quiet home where he can receive lots of love, walks and treats. Want to give a good dog a loving home? Visit us today to learn more about Tuna!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
