A child with severe allergies ended the lifetime of tranquility senior Evee took for granted. Her introduction to a public life she never knew existed was initially met by her with protests and despair. Our patient, cat-loving whisperers showed her that new humans will be standing by her to help her face shelter life, and will lead her to connect once again with an understanding hero who will offer her the peace she sorely misses. Equipped with the knowledge that she can endure, Evee has been praising our devotion to her, enjoying playtime and treat parties like the Devine senior kitty she is! She’ll will gladly transfer her devotion to the next human family who makes room in their hearts for her, one with older, supportive children. Evee has never lived with other pets, and would like to keep the focus on her. Experienced cat lovers will bask in the glow of a special love connection!

When you come down to NSALA an associate will help you figure out what kind of animal will do best in your situation. At that point they will take out the animals you are interested in so that you may get to know them. You will have plenty of time to play and interact with your new friend in our family friendly areas designated for that purpose. When you decide you want to adopt, an associate will help you fill out an application.

Our adoption fees are as follows:
Puppies (up to 6 months) $350
Adult Dogs (over 6 months) $100
Puppy Mill Rescues $250
Small Breed & Pure Breeds (over 6 months) $250
Kittens (up to 6 months) $100
Double Kittens $150
Adult Cats (over 6 months) $50
Double Adult Cats $75

Where applicable, a $50 Spay/Neuter deposit is required for kittens, $75 for puppies.

Our Adoption Center, is open every Thursday-Sunday 12pm-8pm. On average, our shelter is home to 350 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. Behind the scenes, the Adoption Center contains a nursery area, medical examination room and a grooming area where new admissions are health checked, vaccinated, bathed and groomed.

Visitors are reminded that adoption is a lifelong commitment. After selecting a pet, each potential adopter is thoroughly screened, ensuring each adopter recognizes the life-changing commitment a new pet can be. To date, over 1,000,000 pet owners have met our high standards and adopted a pet from North Shore Animal League America.
