Calamity is one of 15 rabbits dumped at a SoCal horse race track the day after Easter.
It was a dramatic rescue as she was at risk to enter the race track while a horse race was in progress. Fortunately, she darted the opposite direction where we had rescue equipment setup to safely trap her. She did test our patience and we were hoping she would go in the trap which she did.
She currently weigh about 2 pounds with an estimated date of birth of February 23, 2024.
She is phenomenally sweet, calm are loveable. She longs to be picked up out of her bunny bungalow and snuggle in your arms. She does not squirm to get away.
She is available on a foster-to-adopt basis as she is a bit too young for spay surgery. You may foster her until she is old enough for spay in August 2024. She will return to the rescue for 1-2 days for transport to her spay surgery. After spay, the adoption will be finalized.
Calamity should start out living in an exercise pen (x-pen) otherwise known as a puppy pen. She can have that as her home base or transition to a room or a section of a room or free roaming. A cage/hutch is not recommended unless the door is open and an x-pen can be placed around it.
Please be over 21 if inquiring about a rabbit
Calamity can be seen by appointment in Lake Elsinore after a questionnaire is completed or a phone consultation conducted. A questionnaire will be emailed to you.
On adoption day, plan to spend approximately one hour at the rescue going over paperwork and general rabbit care information.
PLEASE consult with the rescue before you purchase rabbit supplies so you can be directed to the least expensive and most appropriate rabbit essentials, especially if you’ve never had the pleasure of owning a rabbit! Your local big chain pet store is probably NOT the best place to buy rabbit supplies!
IF YOU ARE SEEKING A RABBIT AS A COMPANION FOR YOUR EXISTING RABBIT, YOUR RABBIT SHOULD BE SPAYED/NEUTERED!
Male/female bondings are usually recommended. See the following link for more information: https://rabbit.org/care/bonding/
