My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hinkle, our stunning female pup with a beautiful merle coat and a striking blue spotted eye that adds to her unique charm. Her happiness is contagious, and she always greets you with a wagging tail and a joyful spirit.

Hinkle came to us from another shelter, that were in urgent need of space. Now, she’s ready to find a loving family where she can truly shine. Hinkle loves playing in the yard and has a special fondness for her toys.

She’s in the prime of her life and is eager to spend it with a family who can give her the love and attention she deserves. Hinkle would thrive best as the only pup in the household or with a perfectly matched canine companion, as she doesn’t get along with every dog.

If you’re looking for a happy, playful, and loving companion to join your family, Hinkle could be the perfect match. Come meet her and see how she can bring joy and warmth into your home!

More about this shelter

Northshore Humane Society is one of Louisiana's largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Since 1953, we have been serving the neglected and abandoned animals of the Northshore region. We are an independent, non-governmental rescue that offers veterinary care, fostering, adoption, and more. We rely solely on the support of caring people like you to fund our programs and services which profoundly benefit the animals of our community. Thank you for all of your support!

Our Mission:
To be the premier organization dedicated to enhancing and saving the lives of pets in the Northshore region through community engagements, adoption, spay and neuter programs, and sheltering.

Our Vision:
To lay the foundation for a no-kill nation. To learn more about a no-kill nation, we suggest visiting www.nokilladvocacycenter.org.

What We Do:
Adoptions: Each year, we rescue, care for and find loving homes for homeless animals in our community.

Veterinary Care:
Our community clinic provides excellent veterinary care to both our rescue pets and to beloved family pets. All funds raised through our clinic directly impact the care of the homeless animals of our rescue.

Foster:
Our foster families open their homes to homeless animals who are too young, sick or scared to be immediately adopted.

Volunteer:
Hundreds of volunteers take on a variety of tasks to help care for and promote our animals, assist administration, and represent NHS at community events, allowing more time for our staff to do their jobs efficiently.

Low-Cost Pet Health:
Through grant and corporate partners, we are able to provide a variety of low-cost pet care to people in need. These include low-cost spay/neuter opportunities, microchipping, vaccinations and more!
